WHNJ701 4,165 #1 Posted June 23, 2020 thought this generator was interesting made by kohler, powered by a briggs engine, wonder what the agreement was or why they didn't use a kohler engine?

Probably some corporate fair trade thing whereby the Kohler electrical section had to tender for an engine supplier and Briggs came back with the best price. Seems far fetched but why else would you use the competition?
Stormin 9,984 #4 Posted June 23, 2020 Is the Briggs the original engine or a replacement?

JAinVA 4,636 #6 Posted June 24, 2020 (edited) I have a Kohler genset with a Honda that I bought new five years ago.Love both but why it didn't come with a Kohler command is a mystery. Edited June 24, 2020 by JAinVA
Achto 29,402 #7 Posted June 24, 2020 My guess would be that Kohler generator division was targeting a price market and they could not meet the price with a Kohler engine. Briggs was commonly known for adjusting quality to build an engine to meet their customers price requirement.
