Briggs-twin thrust washer and companion?

Recommended Posts

The thrust washer and its companion are so wasted on this machine that the drive pulley is cutting into the engine case. It looks like the thrust washer is still available, but the companion (p 106499) is discontinued. Does anyone have a suggestion for a replacement?

Engine Thrust Bearing Toro 106499 is discontinued but available as 6007-2RSNR from a bearing supplier. This is a common bearing. The NR may not be required and it likely adds cost to the bearing. NR may be an external retaining ring on the bearing.

When you go to assemble it leave the set screws loose in the engine drive pulley. After the pto is installed apply the pto so it puts the normal clutch pressure against the crankshaft. Then tighten the pulley setscrews. This is called preloading the bearing. Perhaps this was not done the last time it was apart.
