wheelwhores 107 #1 Posted June 18, 2020 i've read the manual for proper belt tightness on the drive belt from motor to mower deck, wondering if you guys have an further info on how you like to measure whether the belt is correctly tighted....or if you are doing something other than what's in the manual with better results. I'm running a 48" deck on a C175. As always, thanks!
953 nut 60,071 #2 Posted June 18, 2020 I just look down at the belt while under a load to be sure it isn't flopping around too much.
oldlineman 1,537 #3 Posted June 18, 2020 I take my index and thumb and squeeze the belt together midway between engine and mule so that they just touch. I know that this is relative to hand finger strength but that is how I always have done it, has worked for 40 plus years. You can also as 953 nut has stated watch belt under load which gives you a great indicator of correct belt tension. Bob
