Headlight assembly mounting

Recommended Posts

Mr Magoo

I have all the parts for the headlight assembly for my C-120, but not sure exactly how it was all mounted and held together. When I got the tractor, the bucket was held in with baling wire and I'm pretty sure that's not stock.

What holds the bucket to the hood? I thought it looked like it was maybe rivets. Is there supposed to be any kind of gasket or cushion in there too?

I can see on the exploded parts view that the bezel was held in with screws, but not sure what size. Are they threaded into the bezel?

Lastly, what kind of splitter or plug do you all use for going from the lights to the switch? Seems like it should be a plug there so you can remove the hood easily.

Thanks!

You can get a 2-wire trailer connector that works well. Like the common flat 4-wire trailer connector but just 2 wires.

Bucket should be riveted to the hood, 1/8" rivets, one per side. The screws that hold the lens go through the lens, through the hood, and thread into the bucket housing.

This allows you to remove the lens (4 screws in the corners) to swap bulbs, and the 2 rivets hold it in place on the hood.

Or common bullet connectors. Make sure you ground the bucket back to the frame or and other good ground especially if running led bulbs or they will flicker. not so if running incandescent but be careful with those they have been know to create problems with the lens.

Thank you. I was going to use the 1156 bulbs, but not if they will screw up my lens. Is there a particular brand of LED that is good?
