Dieseldog58 7 #1 Posted June 13, 2020 Looking at buying a Wheel Horse, found two different models. One is a G14 comes with mower deck and scraper blade he's asking 400 and the other is a C120 just comes with a scraper blade he's asking 300. Any ideas on the better model? Below is pic of the G14. RandyLittrell 3,906 #2 Posted June 13, 2020 The GT-14 is a physically larger tractor but there is nothing wrong with a C-120. I would depend on the condition of both of them. If they don't run, it makes it hard to asses whether everything works. If they were both in the same shape, I would take the GT-14. Randy
Dieseldog58 7 #3 Posted June 13, 2020 Well the G14 was parked in shed for 12 yrs. Was running when parked. The c120 he just said don't run. Is the G14 better then the Allis chalmers B110?
stevasaurus 23,307 #4 Posted June 13, 2020 It could be...definitely easier to work on and more parts available for the C-120.

While I'm not that familiar with the G14, every WH I've ever worked on (except maybe a D-250) is way easier to service than the Allis my Dad had. They're great machines, no doubt, my brother still mows and plows with that '66 Allis, but I'd still take a WH over it. No contest.
chip61 666 #10 Posted June 14, 2020 Yea, what Echris said. I have an Allis B112. Wonderful machine, cuts great but as far as something as simple as removing/installing or adjusting cut height I can pull the deck off my horse and put it back on and adjust it quicker than I can remove or install the deck on the Allis, much less adjust it. I'm not that familiar with the GT14, but very familiar with the C series and you just can't beat them for ease of use, maintenance and repair.

One advantage the Allis has (or at least my Dad's '66 B-10 had) is the full width rollers on the rear of the deck. If you like lawn patterns, the Allis kills it! echris 1,425 #13 Posted June 14, 2020 Just now, chip61 said: For sure, once set up the Allis does a beautiful job! But you have to set it up first. Threaded T-handles on either side of the deck for deck height. Isn't it? This is one of the reasons I love WH tractors. Working at the shop as a kid I had to set up all different kinds of machines, new and old. I never really had to set up a WH. At least not until something wears. One of my main jobs was un-crating brand new WH's and setting them up. You can hate me if you want. Thats OK. That part of my job was the best job ever. The rest of it was sweeping floors, sharpening every mower blade, chainsaw chain, filling kerosene tanks, washing tractors, changing tires... you know the crappy jobs. But I got to assemble brand new WH's a few times a week.
pfrederi 18,714 #14 Posted June 14, 2020 If neither one is running i would go with the C120. Easier to work on, parts are more readily available and there are more implement options....
Dieseldog58 7 #15 Posted June 14, 2020 (edited) Hey everyone thanks for the advice, taking it all in. I would buy both, my wife would move me out Lol. Below is a picture of the C120 says hadn't ran in awhile. Hes asking 300, for it and scrapper blade. No mowing deck. Not going use it for mowing, be nice have thought, just for now going be moving dirt and scraping my driveway. What parts are interchangeable with the C series? C series has to be one of the most universal Wheel Horses. The list of attachments goes on and on. The C-120 is super tough. The GT14 is your High School big brother way super tough. Until I had them side by side for comparison, I wouldn’t believe how “brick sh*& house” strong and over-built they are! I’m voting for the GT14, though that AC is pretty sweet! The Tuul Crib 7,339 #17 Posted June 14, 2020 T😎 l would definitely go with the C120 if it were close by I would definitely gobble it up.!
pfrederi 18,714 #18 Posted June 14, 2020 The C120 comes with a plow for your driveway work. A mid mount blade is a great tool for driveways also and they are going to be much easier to find for the C120 than the GT

The GT14 comes pretty complete, just hadn't ran in about 12yrs. Older man has it and ordered a new engine for it, used it few years and parked it. Comes with blade and mowing deck, extra tires. 1

A little maintenance and it should take right off! It’ll have hydraulic lift too.
