littleredrider 409 #1 Posted June 11, 2020 So got to use the new to me rototiller. But guess hit a big ass rock and broke the chain. After some serious fighting getting the tines off, separated without too much pain. But I need to get seals n gaskets, maybe some bearings, but there is no ID tag on it, and don't know how much have changed in later years. I believe it's a 70s unit, looking at the mounting bracket. I would go to a place like https://www.partstree.com/ and enter a model number and see if you can spot difference in the models. I recall some models had two seals back to back on each side for the tine shafts but don't know if all them did. littleredrider 409 #3 Posted June 11, 2020 I looked up the 1976 model and everything looks the same as mine. That had 2 seals you mentioned. I didn't pull my seals yet, wanted to see the price first. Might get the seals/gasket now, maybe over the winter get the bearings. Lil pricey for it all!!! And might need new tines to boot. Yay. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,489 #4 Posted June 12, 2020 The bearings are likely common so see if you can record any numbers while you have it apart and get at a local bearing supplier. When two seals are installed back to back - inner one to keep the oil in and the outer to keep dirt out the outer one starves for lubrication. littleredrider 409 #5 Posted June 12, 2020 Held off getting the bearings. Got the seals on order, gasket is NLA. So might make one out of a cereal box or something. Looked up 2 different tillers, one which I think I have, 1976 year at least, and one for a 92 I believe. The 92 shows the cases are the same, so can flip them left to right. I need to take a closer look at mine, but highly doubt mine is that new, the cover and overall condition makes it older... Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
