echris 1,425 #1 Posted June 10, 2020 My neighbor, friend and retired IBM engineer with around 150 patents! gave me a can of DeoxIT D5 once. This stuff truly is magic. I'm an IT guy, and I've used it on countless laptop batteries that wouldn't charge. Spray, make/break the contacts a few times. She's charging again. Any connection of any sort acting weird, give it a spray. My neighbor once gave a 1/4 can full to my brother who has an F-350 dually with a Banks diesel that would randomly cut out. Dealership couldn't fix it. He sprayed all the engine harness contacts, make/break a few times. Problem disappeared. It's a bit pricey for the small can, but it's the only contact cleaner I've ever used that is really worth a damn. Cleans and coats. For real. cafoose 3,387 #2 Posted June 10, 2020 I might give it a try, check this out: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=deoxit&crid=2HOOQSJQNHMZ&sprefix=deoxit%2Caps%2C206&ref=nb_sb_ss_midas-iss_1_6

But you learn to wince every time you spray too much. Which is each time you spray it. And you 'husband' it. "too much, too much...oh look, it works now." Best customer support too: I had a new spare can on the shelf. Went to use it and found the seal failed, D5 all over the shelf, can empty. Sent an email to support: "We'll send you another can." I asked if they wanted a receipt, or batch code or whatever. "Nope, just give us your address and we'll send a new one right out." And they did. echris 1,425 #5 Posted June 10, 2020 It's magic in a can. And I don't go for magic in a can.

I used it once to clean the rails on my Dad's old HO trainset (4'x10' layout) which I've kept all these years. Holy crap the trains worked perfectly after a quick wipe with a slightly damp cloth. That NEVER happens with HO trains.
