bugkiller82 1 #1 Posted June 10, 2020 The wires behind the gas tank melted together. The green and orange. I have only had this tractor for about 2 months. The ammeter has never worked. Removing the green from the ammeter tractor will not start no power. Maybe someone had wired this up or something. I am want to fix this. I mean I have been using it to mow, and had no issues. I haven't put a meter to anything yet. I would just like some thoughts on the issue and where to head and what I should replace and where to find the parts. ZXT 2,401 #2 Posted June 10, 2020 Hey there! Welcome to the forum! You say the green wire attaches to the ammeter. Where does the orange wire run to? If it runs to the other side of the ammeter, you can simply connect the orange and green together and bypass the ammeter completely. They're nothing but firehazards. ebinmaine 71,928 #3 Posted June 10, 2020 The wiring in the B series is very simple so you'll figure it out. If you could post a few pics it might help us see what you're dealing with. Please keep the ammeter OUT of the circuit. As Jonah mentioned above they can cause problems and yours is already out. I'm not sure what wires are what color. Study the appropriate schematic and rely on your testing because someone may have changed things in the past. I've rewired several 60s and 70s tractors and I now have the habit of completely removing the existing birds nest and starting over fresh. There's a thread that explains a few different schematics.
