C165 8 speed

Hi where is the serial number tag?  It does have a missing panel under the dash.  If the tag was there, why would they put it on a removable panel?

That is most likely where it was.  Sometimes under the seat (if your seat flips up), and sometimes on the left side of the tower.  You have to remember, these are not Corvettes with VIN numbers, and keeping them running like we do here means things get moved around.

Looks like the 8 speed C-165 was only made in 1981 and 1984.  The 1981 model # 01-16K802  the 1984 model # 11-16K801.  :occasion-xmas:

Looks like the 8 speed C-165 was only made in 1980, 1981 and 1984.  The 1980 model 01-16K801, the 1981 model # 01-16K802  the 1984 model # 11-16K801

I think it is on the motor. What will that tell you? The year it was made?  I can get it tomorrow

Serial will tell what year Kohler made the engine. Those are listed in the front of the Kohler service manuals. Tractor will be same model year or the following model year.

They used 2 different spec numbers in the 3 model years according to the info we have.

If they do not tell us what the model number is it should determine what it isn't.
