Blast54 1 #1 Posted June 7, 2020 Hi Folks, I have a neighbor's 310-8 and found a rusted out B terminal on ignition switch. No problem, ordered switch on Amazon ( 5 terminal...figured they are all the same) NOPE!!! So trying to find the right diagram to make this one work by switching terminals around a bit. I downloaded the demystify.pdf but can't find what I am looking for. I can get the tractor to crank over as supposed to but won't stay running unless the key is turned off! The original switch had a double black ground but the replacement switch if I hook up a ground it blows the 25 amp fuse. Here is the ser and model numbers : mod-3110K803 ser#-2000177 ( What year is it?) Thanks Bill Kenney Foster, RI
ebinmaine 71,196 #2 Posted June 7, 2020 (edited) Bill, you're going to need to get the right switch in there. There are several different 5 terminal switches and the wires can't be conveniently swapped around to accommodate a change. Others will be along shortly to help more... pfrederi 18,408 #3 Posted June 7, 2020 310-8 were manufactured over several years. some had K series engines (battery ignition) some had Magnums (magneto ignition). the used different ignition switches. using the wron one may fry the system. What are the terminals marked on the failed switch. S B A R I or S B A R M???
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,285 #4 Posted June 7, 2020 Correct switch is 116338. Note here that some switches have terminals not correctly identified. Use the diagram. Garry
Blast54 1 #5 Posted June 8, 2020 Thanks Guys, PFREDERI, there is no markings on the original switch but it is a Magnum ( magneto) engine. Gwest, I will order 116338. Are there members here who could use the support? Else I will use Jacks Small Engine who stocks the switch. Thanks again. Bill
Blast54 1 #6 Posted June 8, 2020 Thanks , I looked through the listed vendors and didn't receive a response so ordered from Jack's.
