bottjernat1 2,194 #1 Posted May 18, 2020 Well I finally went and picked up my freebie! It is a 1976 D-160. She runs but a screw got dropped in the right cylinder so i took the head off Eww! I took the tiny chunks out and put the head back on for now till i get new head gaskets ordered. I am going to be gentle and clean up the piston and head and run her. I started her and ran her for just about 30 seconds she didn't smoke or knock. I am super thankful for the guy that gave this to me. It came from around Columbus Ohio it was a 3 and a half hour trip one way and worth every penny in gas! It has plastic weights i took off look like they have been on for a long time. the hub looks new. The more i look at it the more it looks like it wasn't used very much. I will restore down the road! I will be replacing the front tires tomorrow and a tub in the one back tire. then to tackle piston head situation and starter solenoid issue. I can jump the starter but i hear no click when trying to use the key. i figure either the switch is bad or the solenoid is. Also anybody have a deck or snow plow i could buy near avilla indiana? Also can someone point me in the right direction for some LED replacement light bulbs for this beast? I'm going all led when i'm done. I love this thing a lot!! I am very Thankful for my tractor folks i have gotten to know over the years and the folks that knew my late dad. I have had it rough since he took his life in 2016 specially with family that quit talking to me for no good reason. Working on this old iron and being able to talk to all of you enthusiasts makes me feel better and i like to impress folks with my skills and my knowledge of history i am taught by all of you! Any tricks and advise you give me will be very appreciated! 3

gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,523 #3 Posted May 18, 2020 Looks like it had a good life. The 6311 Julian build date should be 5311. They could not grasp the Julian build date concept. Garry

gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,523 #6 Posted May 18, 2020 Julian date is first the year followed by the number of the day of the year. 6311 is the 311th day of 1976 or 5311 is the 311th day of 1975. They got confused building a 1976 model tractor in 1975 for the October 1975 release of the 1976 models. Added your numbers here. bottjernat1 2,194 #8 Posted May 18, 2020 So i saw in one manual on here that this should have a gas cap with a dial indicator is that correct because mine doesnt have that. i was told to get a 197?-197? chevy c10 cap. Which is correct? and does anybody have part numbers? I have stens gas caps with a meter but they have threads on the outside. I will be asking alot of questions. The manual for a 1976 on here doesnt have a break down of the parts?

Doesnt have the logo embossed on it, but that doesn't bother me. I did have to do some reseach and make sure the "universal bolt pattern" would fit up with the WH pattern. As to finding a new one of that specific seat, good luck.

The guy did a motorcycle seat years ago for me and did a great job. Not sure I also have a friend who makes seat covers for hapcoparts.com They might be able to make me something. Thanks for the suggestion. I may just go that route to.
David414 289 #15 Posted May 19, 2020 Two years ago, I purchased a high back tractor seat that incorporated several bolt patterns in the seat frame, which one of the bolt patterns fit my 1989, 414-8. Brought from L&M Fleet supply, SKU # 64520021, Concentric International Deluxe high back seat for less than $60.
