ebinmaine 72,672 #1 Posted May 17, 2020 Can a K341 (or other Kohler) be adjusted to make the governor react quicker than factory settings?
Stormin 9,984 #2 Posted May 17, 2020 Yes! By moving the spring to different holes. Closer or further apart.
Lee1977 7,208 #3 Posted May 17, 2020 Eric what do you need it to react quicker for? You only use it to push snow and pull a trailer that only uses around 7 or 8 HP. You have to load it up with some to do like a snow blower or deck in heavy grass to get the governor to kick in. Maybe you want to know if it works. 1
Pullstart 66,752 #4 Posted May 17, 2020 Eric... are you trying to limit the top RPM? If you adjust the governor shaft outward all the way, but don!t adjust the throttle shaft wide open, that might help. To change the way it reacts, I’d imagine you would have to lighten up the weights spinning inside the engine that the governor shaft reacts to. otherwise, I think a throttle stop might help as well.

When I'm hauling a trailer of wood up the hills it seems to falter more than it should. I'd like the governor to have a faster reaction time. The hole set from the factory is quite worn. I'd like to move the spring to the next fastest set.
tunahead72 2,545 #6 Posted May 18, 2020 Eric, I think you're talking about adjusting the governor's sensitivity? I'm not qualified to give you instructions for that, but it is written up in the Kohler service manual (the last part of section 6 in the version I have). 2
