Docwheelhorse 2,740 #1 Posted May 15, 2020 (edited) Hello All, bought 4 tractors yesterday to get the one I wanted... not into it for much money. The one I wanted is an all original 1257 with a real solid 42" deck... , 2nd tractor is a 1257 with the trans pulled---tractor is hanging on edge of parts only.... it really looks like it was dragged out of a swamp. 3rd tractor is an engineless 416a (Onan) with the full instrumentation dash but the standard front axle and the wimpy Eaton 700 / Manual lift---I may repower with a yank start something or other for whatever reason. The 4rth tractor is restoreable… I THINK its on the "rarer" side.... needs plenty of love. But I want to find a Tecumseh lover to get it too... Im going to just give it away.... Pictures and model number will be posted after I pick it up. So.... if you just can't live without a Tecumseh between the fenders and are looking for a project and are willing to come to central CT make your case here and the best job of "begging" for it (lol) will get it. wallfish 18,242 #5 Posted May 15, 2020 I'm a Teccy lover! I LUV'M so much they get ripped right out to save them and they get replaced with an expendable Kohler engine. 1

Tecumseh's also hold "boat anchor" status for me... but hey I'm the guy that likes Briggs and Stratton so who am I to judge.... Tony

Pullstart 67,054 #10 Posted May 15, 2020 I’ve got two Tecky tractors in my herd, not a one has ever let me down. I’m a Wheelhorse fan! Whatever shakes ‘em, I like those too!
AMC RULES 37,211 #11 Posted May 15, 2020 Definitely interested, but well past the begging stage of this hobby. 1 1

Docwheelhorse 2,740 #15 Posted May 16, 2020 (edited) Ok... ok... I still dont have pics... but Ill let you guys in on secret. And im really just looking for a Tecumseh guy to get it running because its cool. Im not looking for anyone to literaly "beg". I just dont want to see the motor pulled and tossed. Drum roll... its a 197? C160-8 with the OHV Tecumseh and electronic ignition. Rumor has it these Cs are different from all others to accomodate this motor. littleredrider 409 #17 Posted May 16, 2020 I've had a couple, one in a lawn ranger that ran good, but was tired. Way back in the day I sorta raced go carts, and I had a 5 horse. They outlawed them because they have more torque than a Briggs 5 horse. One I had think had a cam in it, or retimed or something, and had race gas in it, straight piped exhaust. Ran good, but would only do 35 with gearing we had.
D_Mac 9,317 #18 Posted May 16, 2020 If my garage wasnt full of " projects " already I would love to take it on. I feel like I dont belong here since selling off all of mine. Someday soon I will be back in a saddle again !
AMC RULES 37,211 #19 Posted May 16, 2020 Is the engine apart now? Unless it's blown, pretty sure we could get it running.

rustyoldjunk 127 #24 Posted May 18, 2020 I love the cast iron OH and HH Teckys. I have been running them and taking care of them on another brand for years. They run smooth, have plenty of power and squeeze fuel pretty good too. I would love to have a OH160 powered C160 but too far away for me.
