Hi I'm new here. Just got my third wheel horse. 312 hydro

ID 3112ke01

13093

0128

Getting it ready to run and am confused with hydro fluid.

Is 10w30 ok and HOW MUCH.

I have the new filter.

Now that I'm signed up, perhaps searching for myself will be easier for me, or maybe not lol. Thanks

Thanks a lot. I'm over whelmed.

This no clutch pedal is new to me.

I'll tell what I did, please tell me where I'm being a bone head.

This thing had a yard sweeper with it's own engine at one time.

When removing the hardware from it, I noticed many chassis bolts were loose.

To get to some I removed the spin on filter above left rear wheel area.

Got new filter and 5 quarts 10w30.

Then removed plug in rearend or differential, left bottom, with Allen wrench.

Pulled dip stick located under seat and fluid drained faster.

Replaced plug and new filter.

Put oil in at dip stick tube.

It will not take 5 quarts.

4 over fills it past top of tube.

It seems to like 3+ on stick even after running it.

2 1/2+ qts and what was in the old filter. The machine had been sitting long time.

Let me ask this way.

Is the "transmission" and rear end all one unit with one drain plug and filled through the dip stick tube?

Does it have a vent?

This hydro is foreign to me.

I'll probably have to strip all the tin and study this unit.

Great info on this site. The links by file mod are probably what I need to dial in choke on one my others.

Thanks for reassurance. Everything I found said 5 quarts and I don't want to smoke this thing. Will do what you suggested, clean, check out, lube, and flush again, it was sitting.

It has 700 hours.

So far I did tires, battery, oil and trans fluid changes, grease, cleaned fuel tank/line, and general clean up.

The deck is next.

Does anyone know the name of the part that's a short hose with belled ends that runs between the back of air box and engine? And where to get one. My local dealer was no help there.

I improvised with the largest fuel lone I could fit in there.

Can someone direct me to a discussion on adjusting the speed control lever on the 312 h?  I apologize for not being experienced or smart enough to find it on my own.

The lever backs down on its own and has to be held forward manually.

I probably have about 10 hours on this horse.

Well I found the nut to tighten to increase lever friction. Let me ask.

With go forward lever all the way forward, I can turn the cam a little more.

Does this need adjusted?
