hotajax 229 #1 Posted May 7, 2020 (edited) I wanna put in points. Ya got that cardboard gasket between the block and points cover, right? Can I get by with some gasket maker? Issue is whether or not those little crumbs of old gasket maker will get inside the block and clog things up. Opinions? Thx Edited May 7, 2020 by hotajax Spelling
Pollack Pete 2,273 #2 Posted May 7, 2020 Personally,I'd use a gasket.I bought several at one time.Or,you could easily make one from gasket material.Just checked the points in my C-161 last week. The old gasket looked fine so I just re-used it.Gasket sealer has a lot of uses. Not for everything though.
ebinmaine 73,002 #3 Posted May 7, 2020 I would use that gasket. New. Dry. A lot of points covers have a vent hole in the bottom. Make sure that is open and free.
