Pulley identification help ????

Recommended Posts

A few weeks ago I brought home a load of parts and have organized and cataloged 99 % of them; now I'm down to the unknown . I'm not even sure if this is a W. Horse pulley or not. It matches nothing we have in stock or on any of our equipment. It measures 4 7/8" in dia. , has a 3/4" dia center keyed hole, and would take a 1/2 belt.  It is not cast with any #'s on it. There were remnants of red paint on it , and there was nothing in the parts haul that wasn't WHorse. Let me know what we might have here. Thanks :eusa-think:

1/2" drive belt would normally be pre 67 or so but I don't know what engine would have a 3/4" shaft.

Older smaller... Maybe 3 - 5 horse engines?

Agreed.

Maybe a replacement for a worn out one many moons ago.

Instead of an ENGINE pulley, I'm thinkn' it may be a TRANNY input shaft pulley...  Maybe???

Did the early ones have a larger shaft?

I'm only familiar with maybe 65 and up.

Retired Wrencher

It reminded me of an old Auto trans pully?

953 nut

Browning is an industrial manufacturer and this probably isn't for a wheel horse. It could be used on the input shaft of a manual transmission with a 3/4" shaft.

Looks similar to a trans input shaft on a 953/1054, or the jackshaft on a rmr36 in mower deck.

The 3 piece and the 3 speed transmissions used a 3/4" input shaft.  That pulley would work but is different from what the original looks like.  :orcs-cheers:
