TC10284 113 #1 Posted May 1, 2020 So just about all the 500 series I own (older and newer) with a plastic push switch for the headlights doesn't work. There is one or two where I can push the button to the ON position a certain way (usually hard and after flipping from OFF to ON repeatedly) and the headlights come on. For others, not. It isn't a blown fuse and it doesn't appear to be wiring. My assumption is the switches are crap. What's the best way to go about fixing or replacing these switches? Thanks! I love you guys...
cleat 7,177 #2 Posted May 1, 2020 It's not so much that they are crap as the grease in them gets hard and sticky. I carefully take them apart and then clean, re lubricate and reassemble them. The trickiest part is the little ball and spring so take it apart over a bowl or tray to avoid losing parts. I have never taken pictures of them apart. The older 520's have an indicator light test switch which is very similar but has a spring to make it a momentary contact. Once they are clean and lubricated with a light grease they work fine. 1
