PTO question

How do I remove the pulley and bearing race from this point? I am putting a manual PTO on my GT-14. I have the electric PTO removed and there are no holes to attach the clutch plate so I'm assuming I need to change the pulley. The pulley I have on this Raider engine is only 4" and I need a 6" pulley with holes to attach the clutch plate for the GT-14.

Did you try a flywheel puller?

No, didn't try anything yet. Don't want to break anything and I was wondering if there's a special way to pull the bearing race or if it comes off with the pulley. I have a harmonic balancer puller if that would work.

To remove a pulley with out the holes, you need a bearing separator and a gear puller The knife edges of the separator will fit into the belt grooves and lock on. Then the gear puller will grab the separator. The race will come off with the pulley. The engine pulley will not be 6”. The pulley on your Raider is about the right size. I think 8 speeds and hydro’s are a different dia.

So the Raider would have been an 8 speed? I never saw the Raider so I don't know. The GT-14 is an automatic so the pulley off an automatic would be 6"? If that's the case then I would need an automatic 6" pulley with mounting holes for the manual clutch plate for my GT-14?

Doing some research I found that Raiders seem to be all 8-speed. I also found that I need a 7443 pulley. I have one off a C-120 around 1976 or 1977. Seems like they take the same pulley. If that's true then I have one.:handgestures-thumbupright:

Have you measured the crank shaft on your GT 14 is it 1-1/8 or is it 1'  the C120 would be 1-1/8"  I assume you are planing on using the old style lever operation. In which case the  bracket that mounts on the hood stand will have to be modified it will not stick out far  enough.  If you are using the newer hoop system i would be interested to see how you set up the activating linkage.  Why are you converting from electric seems like a lot of work....

The 8 speeds are the small engine pulley and the hydro pulley is the bigger pulley. I took a 7443 pulley off a c160 hydro. OD is 5 1/4”

If it is only 5 1/4 you are going to have to modify the belt guard...going to slow down your hydro also....GT-14 is 6" pulley

GT-14 has a 1 1/8 crankshaft. I'm using the older style lever operation. I'm converting to manual because of the quick and harsh engagement of the electric clutch.

Yes I saw the GT-14 has a 6 inch pulley. I hope that doesn't create too much of a problem.

If I remember geometry correctly that will reduce your hydro speed by 12.5%
