Frame differences

So I bought a pretty rough c145 for 180 bucks with hydro lift. Everything looks and appears in tact complete and not leaking. I have 3 horses currently a complete a running and driving charger and a parts 312-8. So I was tearing down the 312 to scrap and keep any good parts when it crossed my mind why cant I restore the frame of the 312 and swap everything over it to it from the c145 as I'm looking to restore the c145. Jack's list the c145 frame as #109316 , the 312 as 110648. Toro lists the 312 as 782680.  Parts tree says the c145 is superceded to the 782680. Can anyone confirm if they are in fact the same frame? Thanks

My gut says the frames are the same. The diff part numbers might refer to the mounting holes, maybe :eusa-think: . The C145 has the Kohler K on the shaker plate while the 312 has mounting holes for either a direct mount Kohler K or Magnum.

:text-yeahthat:   I don't own a "C: series :wh: but the front portion of the front axle mount on the 312 may be the only thing that changed. On the 312 the Mule drive mount and axle mount are a one piece unit, I think on the "C" the two tabs for the axle pivot pin were welded to the frame.  No big deal.

I don't have any later model ones to compare to. I have frames as new as 1977 or 78. Those have the rear tab mounted to the frame but the front attachment point for the axle is part of the attach a matic plate. It bolts to the front of the frame.

 

 

As long as the length of each frame is the same I don't know why it wouldn't work.

If both frames have two 3/4" bars supporting the foot pads I would say they are the same. The early C-series 1976 and 1977 had just one at the fronf of the foot pad but they did't have the gas tank under the rear fender.

The frame from my 1984 GT1848  has holes for a direct bolt wide base Kohler too.

 

I just mounted  a Kohler  on this weekend didn't need to use J-bolts.

Both do have the gas tanks under the seat as well as the bars. As far as engine mounting being different the c145s shaker bushings are shot so it's going to get a direct bolt pan as I have one laying around. My only concerns are the mounting for the rear end would be the major factor. The 312 has all the steering and attachments. So really the dash and rear end are the only iffy things

The dash tower is the same except for the top section the switch and gauges might be some different. . The frame to transmission is the same bolt pattern.  They went to bolt down fender pans in 1976 and a the later fender pans C's .300. 400 and 500 the hole to bolt them down are the same.
