johnnymag3 2,572 #1 Posted April 26, 2020 Good Morning everyone. Im looking for ideas, or ways to remedy / repair my leaking shutoff on one of the horses. Its threaded in to the bottom of the gas tank, its all metal, and part brass. Its no passing thru the line , but leaking at the screw knob. I would like to keep the shutoff here and not have to add some cheap one inline. its on the 1257. Much appreciated as always. John Stay safe and keep it RED. ebinmaine 73,002 #2 Posted April 26, 2020 There will be a screen on that inlet that sticks up into the tank. You can buy new ones from A- Z tractor or online fleabay or whatever.
stevasaurus 23,307 #3 Posted April 26, 2020 That item may have an "o" ring or one of those fiber washers that is bad...much like a faucet. Take it apart and see if you can take out the shut off knob.

8ntruck 7,879 #6 Posted April 26, 2020 Yup. I agree with Steveasaurus. Probably a worn out o ring under the gland nut on the shut off valve. My shutoff valve was leaking last year. Replacing that o ring solved the problem.
johnnymag3 2,572 #7 Posted April 28, 2020 ok so all of you guys were right....I took this darn thing apart, and found that that the inner shaft is separate from the body. I tightened the outer nut that seals the shaft and that's it !!! I cleaned the entire assembly and put it back in....fingers crossed. It was perfect. The knob is tighter, and there is no mere seepage. THANKS EVERYONE !!!! AMAZING SITE AND USER KNOWLEDGE 1
johnnymag3 2,572 #8 Posted April 28, 2020 After I loosened the nut on the shaft I could not get it out, not sure why but I retightened it and made the unit harder to turn.....no more leaks or drips Thanks again

[I think, basing it on house plumbing fixtures....]
