adsm08 3,339 #1 Posted April 26, 2020 I need at least one, good quality high detail picture of the frame rail of an 855 or extremely similar unit, right in the area of the PTO pedal, at the very front edge of the battery tray. I need the area to be relatively clean and the metal clearly visible.
ebinmaine 73,002 #2 Posted April 26, 2020 We've got a restored 657. Trina's Pony horse. Couple years newer. Would that help? Also have an 856 in the future projects section but not sure how the frame looks....
adsm08 3,339 #3 Posted April 26, 2020 The 657 may be close enough. I'm not sure. The 856 certainly is. Mostly I am trying to ascertain if the area in question was actually repaired before, or if that rail was originally two pieces that were welded together. It is likely to have an effect on exactly how I try to repair it. If it was two pieces at production I'll probably clean it up good and have it welded again. If it was originally one piece, has been repaired, and has now failed again I'm plating it.
ebinmaine 73,002 #4 Posted April 26, 2020 It was most certainly one piece of angle iron from the transmission plate to the front. Plating the area is likely your strongest option. I'd be happy to have My Honey help me pop the 856 out and take a couple pics later if you like.
tunahead72 2,554 #5 Posted April 26, 2020 I don't know if this helps... I just took a look at the parts manuals for these tractors, and it LOOKS like the frame rail is all one piece, just like Eric said. The part number for the frame is the same for all three tractors you guys are talking about (#5634). Maybe somebody in the past was a bit rough on the clutch pedal? While you're at it, you might want to also check the other side of the frame, where the other pedal is mounted.
