I found today that the long pivot bolt on the bottom of my starter/generator is snapped off. It looks like it should be over 8" long, 5/16"-24 thread. From what I can gather this part is no longer available. Anyone have a source on where to find one of these?

A piece of threaded rod can be cut to length with nuts on each end.. ,I do think you could find a bolt that long . p erhaps from Mcmaster Car.

The original was a grade 5. I did find one on McMaster Carr that is a grade 8 and 9" long. I will go with that. It needs to not be threaded accept for just the very end. I think it will work out.

Did you measure it? 8 inches seems long to me, but maybe.

McMaster Carr

That was my first thought.

Also K L Jack. Or Grainger.

It would be a pain to find but that would be on fleeeeBay as well.

If you buy it from M-Carr look around and see what else you need.

Saves freight charges.

Other nuts and bolts. Brake linings. Tie rod ends. Lots of things can be had from them.

What is left is 8" long and broken off right at the end of the generator housing. I would have been longer than 8" for the nut.

I did get the grade 8 bolt from McMaster. Motor is going to have to come out though for a rebuild.
