well guys i am back again with another issue as i am trying to get the horses ready to mow ;i have been using a B-80 which ran fine and cuts great but the issue is after running it for a while it stalls out and will not start the only way to get it to run is spraying gas in the carb but once the gas is gone it stalls again and will not start 'there is spark as i used the plug tester ;i have taken the bowl off and there was gas ;the thing is it has a walbro number # 16-2158 on it but i am not sure if that is the correct one for a K-181-S as i have switched carbs around but anyways i have 2 other carbs and the numbers are #8231739 again switching out a few time i am not sure is they will work on the 8 horse ;buying the after market on the evil bay i have issues with them as the choke lever is different ;so i would like to stay with the original one if i can ;yes i am sure i will need a kit but which carb is the best ;thanks guys

Probably a clogged vent in your gas cap. Next time is stops, open the gas cap and try starting it.

Couple questions for ya...

 

is the tank above the battery on this one still?

 

what is the fuel level?

 

have you confirmed the fuel pump works fine?  If not, disconnect the carb line and route it into an empty container.  Roll the engine over and see if it’s pushing fuel through.

 

have you confirmed fuel can easily get to the fuel pump?

I have a 76 B80 and had to put a low volume electric fuel pump.

thanks for the reply and yes the pump is working great ;the tank is full plus i added some of that heet that is in the yellow bottle yes the tank is above the battery;and yes again the gas is getting to the pump ;it is just odd it always ran fine before but nothing runs for ever then it is time to tinker with them ;again thanks

I had a tractor do similar thing., It was a clogged screen on the fuel fitting at the tank

The B- 80 tank is above the engine. There really is no need for a pump to be added.. Find out why the fuel isn't flowing to the carb, and if it is there is an issue with the carb. Gravity is not fake

 If there is the proper level of fuel in the bowl the engine will at very least pop when trying to start it. It's basic science.air moving thru a venturi (passing by a nozzle or jet) will draw a vacuum and pull fuel through the intake port. Take your main mixture screw out and spray the snot out of the screw and hole in the carb with carb cleaner.
