Pullstart 67,078 #1 Posted April 8, 2020 My wife’s “brother from another mother” Bryan recently got a new boss, from somewhere down south and he lives just a couple miles away from us. After a tour of the shop a couple weeks ago, he asked “Uncle B” if I’d be willing to shop for a tractor for him to mow, pull a trailer, etc. I found this deal and sent it his way. He’s coming to borrow a trailer this afternoon to pick it up, negotiated a deal at $550 I believe. I thought about jumping on it myself and parting out the accessories but thought it would be wise to just pass a deal on this time. 14

JoeM 8,443 #3 Posted April 8, 2020 Even at the asking price not to shabby. Is it just me or are the prices shrinking a bit on the horses? CL and FB seem loaded with deals.

CL and FB seem loaded with deals. Around me it seems to be very polar. There are people that think their tractor with smashed body work, a seized engine, four junk tires, and a broken transmission is worth $1000 just because it says Wheel Horse on it and there are people that just see an old beat up mower and want $50. Not much in between. It's not uncommon for the first group of people to buy tractors from the second group of people and then relist them at much higher prices. I can't tell you how many times in I've seen the same tractor come up for sale from different people within days at drastically different prices.
WHX?? 51,916 #6 Posted April 8, 2020 I eyeballed that one a while back and can't believe it was listed for this long. Yes a very good deal considering what you'd have to pay for all that at 1/4 of the quality.
Pullstart 67,078 #7 Posted April 8, 2020 I lent a trailer and some straps to the guys so they could pick the tractor up. They left me with a little cash and these hub caps as a finder’s thanks! Unexpected, but appreciated! 4

WHX?? 51,916 #9 Posted April 9, 2020 I agree with oilwell, around here you see guys wanting $$$ for the older pretty beat up & neglected horses. You can pretty much bet you buy one she is gonna need some love and lots of it to bring it up to my level of mechanical shape anyway. Once in awhile even a blind squirrel finds a nut and you can find smokin deals like Kev's. Many times just needing a fluids change and a bath. That said even if you do have to sink another 2 or 3 hundred into it, maybe some new spindle bearings, blades, a sprocket or two for the blower, where are you gonna find a new tractor with the attachments like that for less than a grand?? Probably don't even have attachments like that for big box machines. You would have to go to a Cub or JD dealer then look out. Get ready for a second mortgage! Many times when kicking tires on a , especially the older ones, I remind the seller you can't get parts anymore. Hopefully seller doesn't know about the resources we have here or the fact that I have $50 or even free parts tractors! Last year Kev brought me over a nice C-145 for what Kev 3 something? I spend another Franklin or so on it, fender pan off a parts 520, new seat & some labor of love and came away with a real nice mowing hydro! Other day I called it a 125 & Dan says "ain't that a 145?" ...I says no it's a 125 …. Point being you can't remember what tractors you have …. you might have a problem!

I think it’s a 145... but I wouldn’t put money on that! Glad that thing’s working for ya still Jim! And if it wasn’t for going to ****** that thing, I wouldn’t have my own personal Steve.
