CHUCKBORDNER@GMAIL.COM

Greetings seasoned members! First time Wheelhorse owner at age 67. I am a Michigan resident, mechanically experienced and retired. Recently, I acquired a C175 Automatic with a 48" mower deck. I am openly asking for a bit of knowledge sharing in regard to the ciphering of the model year of the tractor and mower deck based on the information taken from them.

Tractor info: ID # 01-17KS02-13587

                        0081

Deck Model: 78365  S/N 7900323

Engine: Model tag missing, S/N 10034860 (engine appeats to be large displacement Kohler twin believed to be 17 hp).

Please understand that I do not expect an immediate response. Beyond this initial post, I intend to be a contributing participant, not simply content with lurking through the forum without personal investment. Should any of you have questions of me, I openly encourage interaction.  Chuck

Welcome to the party !   You made a fine choice of tractor. Warning though, they do seem to multiply so just beware. Just like pringles chips, you can't have just one.

One of my tractors is a C-175 with a series one K-17 I can make the rest of my tractors purr but for some reason I can’t get that C-175 to run right! I’m not sure if you know this Chuck but if you’re going to run that tractor on any kind of slope it’s a good idea to run it slightly over full of oil. I’m by far an expert on this but I do know there is a lubrication issue with the series one. Others will be along to elaborate on this issue I’m sure. Welcome to Red Square this site is truly the best place for any Wheel Horse owner. By the way, we love pictures!

You have a 1980 C175 Auto.  It is a series 1 KT 17 Spec 24125 Keep it full (or slightly over ) of oil avoid long periods running on steep slopes and she will do you well.   I have a series 1 that was transplanted from  JD 317 with well over 2000 hours  she smokes a bit on start up but gets her work done.

This is the TORO (Wheelhorse) Master Parts Viewer.  https://lookup3.toro.com/partdex/index.cfm?xCaller=Toro

Enter your model as C-175 or 01-17KS02 and follow the prompts.

There is a TON of info on here.

Same with your mower deck.  enter model as 78365 and have some fun surfin'

:text-welcomewave: Chuck!  I’m on the left side of the state and have no KT17 experience, but I’ve got a good waving hand!
