troutbum70 858 #5 Posted March 29, 2020 Nice hood ornament looks good on there, nothin like a nice hood ornament. My favorite has always been the chrome goddess with a 12 volt bulb in it and plexiglass wings that light up at night.

That one is a gift from a great friend a few years back. He was selling a "project" 79 Kenworth W900 and knew how much I LOVE the Pete 379s. Same ornament. The barbed wire on it is a recent addition. I pulled it out of a piece of wood while getting firewood from across the street. It had grown into the middle of the tree.
Retired Wrencher 5,840 #7 Posted March 29, 2020 Eric nice video. Lots timber you have to use. I like the splitter and bridge. Any ticks up you way? Enjoy your spring time.

Back about 4 or 5 years ago we were damn near inundated with 'em but have only seen a few each year since. All last year we saw a total of 10 or 12. This year will likely be a "good" year for them. Mild winter. We keep the dog treated and wear insect repellent on ourselves. Regular checks. Black flies are a far worse issue here.
Retired Wrencher 5,840 #9 Posted March 29, 2020 Just a shame we have to go thru all of this just enjoy the outdoors. Take care.

troutbum70 858 #12 Posted March 29, 2020 Big 10-4 on the barb wire in the tree, we have to be very careful when cutting up wood on our old family farm from when my grand parents were farming it some 60 years ago. Their thought was why drive in a locust post when you can hang that wire on a tree. And also that old cast iron kohler sounds pretty healthy. We don,t have a huge tick problem, of which with all the deer around and wildlife around you would think we would. But we do have to be vigilant and take precautions, need some good old fashion winters where the temps remain sub zero all winter.
tunahead72 2,554 #13 Posted March 29, 2020 You're killin' me here Eric, all these photos and videos of your treks in the woods. We have a place in Virginia that we (mostly I) go to about a dozen times a year. One of the biggest attractions for me is to walk or take the tractor up into the woods and just wander around. I'm sure you understand, it clears the head and is generally just a wonderful reward for all the work I do on the place there. I would have been down there at least once already this year, but the coronavirus thing is making us nervous about traveling anywhere, much less 300 plus miles away. So your pics and vids are frustrating for me to watch, but also a heck of a lot of fun, so keep 'em coming, please! 2

Both of us "get lost" simply looking up at the trees. Always a new view no matter when or where you went last time. I'll keep popping up a video or two when I can. Subscribe to the YouTube and hit the notification thingy and you'll see em first...
tom2p 2,394 #15 Posted March 29, 2020 good stuff - never gets old some of my best childhood memories were tractor rides in the woods - and on occasion still take a tractor into the woods to keep trail clear behind our property into the woods

I did a little clearing yesterday in fact. It's tough to tell in the video. After I go over the bridge and crown a little knoll the path goes down a bit and splits. I scanned both directions to show that. At some point we're going to connect the 2 halves about 4 or 500 feet deep and then there'll be a loop to drive around.
