ChrisJordan 46 #1 Posted March 21, 2020 I was taking the rubbish bins down our lane the other evening (naturally having forgotten to do it while still light...) and disaster struck. When I stopped to unload the bins the clutch return spring broke, no problem I thought, just hold the pedal up with my foot. Then halfway back to the house the engine died! Fortunately ages ago I had fitted a squeeze bulb primer to improve starting, and was able to get home in stops and starts by hand pumping the float bowl full. Time for a new clutch spring and an electric fuel pump! I ended up buying a suitable spring off eBay, our local dealer said it would take 2 months to order the proper WH one! and US dealers whilst cheap for the spring, wanted around $25 to ship it! The eBay one is a perfect fit and strength but marginally fatter. If anybody wants details let me know, it was about $12 inc. postage. The electric fuel pump also came from eBay (~$15) and fits nicely inside the mudgaurd support bracket after a small adjustment to it's 'feet'. See photos. When I first powered it up it promptly flooded the carb and kept pumping... a thorough carb clean and small adjustment to the float level seems to have sorted that problem though. I have also fitted LED headlights as one of the original PAR bulbs had failed and the exact type are tricky to find (=expensive) in the UK. They work well and as a bonus reduce the load on the alternator, although my wife says it makes the tractor look like a robot!! Pullstart 67,081 #4 Posted March 23, 2020 Hey @ChrisJordan, I’m glad you could get the old Mare up and running. It looks like the seal on your brake shaft is leaking a tad.
