bigbore1934 3 #1 Posted March 12, 2020 Just got my new diaphragm kit from THEN-NOW-AUTO installed the new diaphragm ,drainback valves and all, reinstalled it and let the gasket sealer dry....i tightened the screws what I would call tight,I didn't want to cut the rubber so I was cautious....well it sprayed gas clear out on the front tire! Should the screws be super tight? Taking it back off,I found it had put gas in the engine after only running for 30 seconds...it raised the oil level and ran out of the arm area of the fuel pump when I removed it... Is this an issue of just being to careful? I could find no flaws or damage to any of the parts.

The Tuul Crib 7,339 #3 Posted March 13, 2020 To I am myself recently got done rebuilding a 14 horse and made a mistake of putting a cheap Chinese fuel pump which drained gas into the crank case and did some damage. Since I have decided to go with an electric fuel pump. Instant starts every time. of course the original pumps are OK and work fine, but from now on I am sticking with electric .
bigbore1934 3 #4 Posted March 15, 2020 So the company advised that I belt sand the aluminum housing until there is a flat mating surface...well I held it together over a light and it was crazy warped,so a little sanding and it fits together with no daylight! It's all reassembled and ready for try #2! Wish I had thought of that!😆
