foot pedal spring, 68 Charger

Recommended Posts

My Charger 12 is missing the spring to hold the foot pedal up. Which I need to get one of course, but where exactly does it attach at? I have a copy of a manual but the pictures are bad and can't tell where it would go (if it even shows). :dunno

Do I need an exact replacement spring?

:omg:

The spring is located inside the hoodstand "console" area and attaches to the neutral cam plate on the DCL. The other end is either fastened to a bolt that screwed through the side of the hoodstand or through a small hole drilled in the bottom of the rear sloped section of the hoodstand. (depends on the year)

The spring was P/N 1230 but is now NLA. I think P/N 83-2820 will work in it's place but it's not cheap. I'm going from memory only, but I think the spring is around two inches long and about 3/8" to 1/2" in diameter and is fairly light gauge wire. You might be able to find one that's compatible at a hardware or automotive parts store.

Good luck if you decide to install the spring in the original location. You might end up putting one on the outside somewhere once you invent twelve new swear words and pull most of your hair out. :omg:

I would of guessed it attaching the other direction and not to the hood stand. :omg:

Sounds good, thank you TT, you rock my friend

I will try to find a spring that works, and hopefully keep my sanity
