Gas Man 19 #1 Posted March 6, 2020 I need to make some room in the shed. What do you think I can get for my C-175? Runs good and comes with a snow plow and a 42" deck. I pulled out of a barn after a 10 year rest and have only put a couple hours on it. I'm going to put turf tires on the rear before she goes.

pfrederi 18,714 #3 Posted March 6, 2020 Series 1 or series 2 KT 17 makes a difference in value.....
Gas Man 19 #4 Posted March 6, 2020 I'm not sure. Probably a Series
12Horse Paladin 1,038 #5 Posted March 6, 2020 Well...im curious to know, myself, for sure As a side...cuz i really dont know, what are the differences between a series 1 and 2? How do you tell which is which; does it just go by build date? What makes one more desireable? See...i really like those Blackhoods; one for my bucket list... Thanks for any info! c-series don 10,154 #6 Posted March 6, 2020 That’s a series one, there was a lubrication issue with the series one which apparently was only a problem mowing on slopes. I believe that was solved by slightly over filling the crankcase with oil. 1

The engine ID tag will have a Spec. Number on it. If the Spec. number is 24299 or lower it is a Series One, higher than that is a Series Two. With a series one the biggest issue would be operating it on hills, lubrication won't be as good as a series two.
AMC RULES 37,211 #8 Posted March 7, 2020 The only issue with that engine is the operator that doesn't keep it's oil level topped off. Even better is slightly over filled. Thing is a beast!
midpack 1,011 #9 Posted March 7, 2020 I have a machine just like that one. Also have a 417 with a series 2 on it. Both have done duty with a single stage snow thrower on the front. Hours on the series 2 are around 600 ish No clue about the series 1, but I know it was well cared for. All that being said... the series 2 machine did a fine job, but when I was using the series 1 machine, all I could think was "this thing is a BEAST!" Don't fear a well maintained series 1
Gas Man 19 #10 Posted March 7, 2020 Thanks for all of the feedback on the engine! I'm going to check it out to make sure, but I've always assumed it was a Series 1. So....the magic question....What should I ask for it?
AMC RULES 37,211 #11 Posted March 7, 2020 Depends on condition, and your area of the country. A good looking, well cared for Series 1 machine, that does everything it's supposed to do, will probably max out around the $500 mark, I would think. Mind you, many out there are scared of 'em. Gas Man 19 #15 Posted March 7, 2020 I think I'm gonna ask $750 for her. But that will be AFTER I find a snow plow for my 335 Deere
Gas Man 19 #16 Posted March 7, 2020 That video pushing dirt is pretty impressive!! With Ag tires it would be amazing! (or you'd break something?!!)
WildmanC120 613 #17 Posted March 9, 2020 That KT17 sounds great. A C-175 is my most wanted model currently.

Although I am pretty poor at the moment, I never see these or 165's pop up anywhere around me.
