rustyoldjunk 127 #2 Posted April 30, 2009 i took a few minutes to check it out a little closer.its not locked up,as i first thought,i did get it to turn but someone has rewired the ignition switch with a single wire to each prong (6) and a prong has rotted off.i may take another look at it when i get a chance to see if i can get it started before i start to part it out. bell 11 #3 Posted April 30, 2009 GOOD!!! I hope you can get it running.... Hmmm, that would be a cool engine in a early long frame... :omg:
WHC-125 4 #4 Posted April 30, 2009 I think thats a 417-8 because I dont think their was a 418-8. And the 417-8 had the electric lift.
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #5 Posted April 30, 2009 Hmmm, that would be a cool engine in a early long frame... ....and cooler yet on a round hood. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I wonder if the hood was an assembly line oops that was never caught. :omg:

lotus1967 0 #9 Posted April 30, 2009 WHC 125. I can't be sure, but do believe it is a 418-8 with incorrect decals. I can definetly confirm that a Model 418-8 does exist. I have one in my garage that I use at least twice a week. Kohler Magnum 18 engine. Unfortunatly, mine does not have an oil filter on it. It is my understanding that some units came with, and some without the pressure oil system. I just change oil more often. I'll try and get some pic's posted clearly showing the markings as 418-
wh500special 2,262 #10 Posted April 30, 2009 I wonder if the hood was an assembly line oops that was never caught. I wouldn't be surprised. There was a 416-8 in town here with the twin onan than had 310-8 decals on one side. I got really excited when I thought it was a 316-8 until I went back for a closer look. My friend's uncle had an Oldsmobile "Ciera Cutlass". The emblems were transposed on the driver's side. Stranger things have happend. Steve
