formariz 12,040 #1 Posted April 27, 2009 Got this engine which was advertised as a H70. It looks like an H55 B or D with the Tillotson carb for a 550. It has the Wheel Horse red underneath. I don,t know of another Tecumseh with that indentation under the shaft except for an H55. Can anyone help me confirm it? :omg:
sorekiwi 761 #2 Posted April 27, 2009 Cant help with your specific question, but this is an HT 55 A thats on my 502: It is an aluminum block motor with an internal oil pump. (The tractor "should" have an H55, and will probably soon be getting a Kohler.... ). The H55's and HT55's are the only ones I know of that have the oil pump instead of splash lubrication. There are much better informed Tecumseh experts than me around though... EDIT: For horrible spelling!!
Kelly 1,033 #3 Posted April 27, 2009 There is another one of those carb covers that was being talked about in another post, I think that was a 550 suburban?
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #4 Posted April 27, 2009 It does bear a striking resemblance to this H55B-1170:
Suburban 550 28 #5 Posted April 28, 2009 Cas, I have the almost identical engine on my 550. It's a Lauson H550-1313 with the Tillotson updraft carburetor. Don't know where that set of numbers came from on my engine unless the engine or shroud was replaced over the years. Mine is not the correct numbers for a 550 yet it looks like the correct engine for that tractor. :omg:
