1988SS 50 #1 Posted February 5, 2020 Feeling kinda dumb...this, new to me machine -314 8, has me baffled. What tools are needed to remove the tire chains? I can't unhook the 'hook'. I can only find installation vids. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
ebinmaine 71,146 #2 Posted February 5, 2020 There are a few different kinds of attachment methods for tire chains. I've had one completely befuddle me in the past as well. Sometimes you need to deflate the tire a bit. Can you post pics of the buckle you're trying to undo? Last set I removed were on a pair of tires I got for making dually’s...rusted on really bad from being outside. Patient soak in pb blaster, deflated tire and using a pry and vise grips got them off... Careful with prying. Will shred tire if you apply pressure on the rubber...my tires were shot so it didn’t matter... 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

jeff lary 173 #7 Posted February 11, 2020 The latch / unlatch link assembly is on the other side of the tire directly opposite the cam latch you show. Let out almost all the air and it will come apart easier for your first time. Un-do the other side first after deflating the tire some, and next time you wont have such an issue.
