troutbum70 858 #1 Posted January 29, 2020 Is there a rubber o ring or fiber washer that fits around the shaft under the nut that locks it down?. This one was by passed I guess I know why when it's turned on it leaks. I ran new fuel line and filter and hooked it back up, only leaks when open and engine not running. ebinmaine 73,015 #2 Posted January 29, 2020 I don't think I've ever taken apart a Wheelhorse fuel shut off. The couple of sediment bowl shut offs I've looked at definitely did have an o-ring there.
ol550 830 #3 Posted January 29, 2020 Have 'fixed' several by inserting an o'ring just tighten the nut enough so it doesn't drip.
troutbum70 858 #4 Posted January 29, 2020 Okay will try an o ring of appropriate size. I am thinking there had to be some kind of some thing in there originally so as to prevent leaking. I have several but not finding the right one work. Off to the parts store tomorrow for a bigger selection.
CCW 1,379 #5 Posted January 29, 2020 Be sure to get an o-ring that will not degrade from gas exposure.

Pullstart 67,081 #7 Posted January 29, 2020 I’d suggest running the tractor out of fuel, then taking it apart for inspection. This is the type on the side of the dash tower, correct? I think it might have a seal inside the needle and seat... then a jam nut holding it onto the tower.
troutbum70 858 #8 Posted January 29, 2020 I made one for the time being, I will get a real at first opportunity. Stop the leak for now.
troutbum70 858 #9 Posted January 29, 2020 One nut holds it to the tower, the second is a jam but that's where I placed the home little seal for now. A small vice grip on fuel line for temporary.
8ntruck 7,887 #10 Posted January 30, 2020 I treated the same issue on my 14-8 this spring. When I took the needle out of the valve, there was a shriveled up O ring on the shaft. I replaced the O ring and all has been fine since.
