bottjernat1 2,194 #1 Posted January 27, 2020 Good morning folks! I was wondering what frame will swap out with an 1965 875? My daughters 875 I discovered has a major issue when i jacked it up the rear end and the front where not moving insync LOL! I noticed someone has welded a steal plate over where the typical cracks happen. It has been like that for years im assuming my late dad knew about it. My friend joe had a frame he said he would sell me for $5 but i wanted everyone's expertease on what all model frames will interchange! Thanks for the help!! My daughters 875 Any short frame from a square nose tractor should fit. If you have access to fab equipment, you could make a new mount for the existing frame. Basically any model made after 1965 that had a horizontal shaft engine of 6hp to 8hp. Some of the earlier frames may work also.
Lee1977 7,226 #5 Posted January 27, 2020 (edited) The frame length on a long frame Wheel Horse is 37 1/2". I don't have a short frame, but i think it should be about 3" to 4" shorter. Edited January 27, 2020 by Lee1977

But it looks like someone took a flat piece of steel and welded it right over the top of the factory flat piece. Im guessing it had the typical cracks and this was someones bright idea instead of just repairing the cracks. They also drilled holes threw there welded piece to mount it so whats wrong is there is a bit of a flex of the front of the horse and the back when u lift it because of the gap between the 2 pieces. Why in the world someone would do this is beyond me! I will be splitting it this spring if not sooner and get a closer look at the issue. if i can cut off there crap weld job i may just repair the cracks or whatever is really wrong and be done. but just incase i will buy the $5 frame cant beat that price. rjg854 12,256 #8 Posted January 27, 2020 I have a 68 Commando 8 frame you could have, but shipping would be a whole lot more than 5 dollars. Good luck with this repair.
