i have brought in several horses lately including a 14-8,the 800 special i posted questions about,an 8-4,a C160 hydro w/hydro lift,2 GT14's one early one late model and a 418 A 8 speed? i also got the 1257 i had been working on up and running,i used a 416 8 speed rear in it w/a later model K301 kohler 12hp engine but that tractor is for another thread,oh and 10.50 super lug rear tires.....but back to what this thread is about.the one i got got in has 418 A on the hood sides but its an 8 speed.what does the A stand for? it has the kohler 18hp twin and it also has what appears to be factory electric lift.so what makes a 418 A a 418 A?

If the hood is louvered, just change the decals to say 418-8. You should have a chrome air cleaner cover, chrome heatshield on the muffler, and the electric lift. If it's really a 418-8 it will have 1,2,3 and R with a dual range selector.

Hope this helps

Same here- used horses are like hens teeth. Makes you wonder about some of these guys who come home with new finds all the time- maybe Mythbusters needs to look into this... :omg:

looks like it just has the wrong decals on the hood.its a 418-8.it is a neat tractor with the chrome breather, exhaust guard, electric lift, hour and amp gauges but it has sit out a while its oxidized but not rusted too bad.the engine seems locked up,the PO thought it was the starter but i got the starter disengaged and its still locked up.it looks like sale material because i wont have time to get to it any time soon.
