ebinmaine 72,710 #2 Posted January 7, 2020 Others might be able to chime in with sizes here or you could check the manual but I think they're just regular grade 8 bolts. To the best of my knowledge there not a stretch to yield type modern head bolt.

pacer 3,177 #4 Posted January 8, 2020 As Eric sez -- I just go to the bolt store (usually TSC) and grab a handful of grade 8's. And of course I come home with a mix of 8's and of course another handful of misc grad 5's ---- and .... generally a couple another item or 2!

oldredrider 2,553 #8 Posted January 8, 2020 To test hardness, take a triangle file to it. If it files easy, not hardened.

redone 45 #10 Posted January 12, 2020 Hi Guys. I appreciate all feed backs. I like the original parts to make my engines like factory. Resurface heads and block.to new crank bearings. Kohler head gaskets. Bead blast block. Only paint the lower end of block. All shrouds sand blasted primed and painted in factory color. Nothing but the best..
pfrederi 18,685 #11 Posted January 12, 2020 Based on the "file" test they are not hardened... Why they are over $5 each ...no clue.
The Tuul Crib 7,339 #12 Posted January 12, 2020 Maybe because they are so thick?
