JCM 10,225 #1 Posted January 6, 2020 (edited) Interested to find out on a 1991 520-H if the OEM red oil filter with the black horse head logo were only on new machines when shipped from South Bend or were they also available at dealers for a certain number of years before they were changed to black. To clarify on the Eaton 1100 only. My apologies for putting it under the wrong heading. Edited January 7, 2020 by JCM
Stepney 2,354 #2 Posted January 7, 2020 I have a few of those filters NOS in plastic sleeves, but I think they are older then what you are asking about. I think mine are to the older hydros. I've never even bothered to search the number honestly.
squonk 43,843 #3 Posted January 7, 2020 The older filters where red. Switch it to a white Napa 1410 and have a better filter on it. I cut a red filter open. Not much in there.
JCM 10,225 #4 Posted January 7, 2020 The reason I ask is when I bought the 520 in 2001 from a friend who I went to kindergarten with. the tractor on the 1100 Eaton had a red OEM filter which I still have and wondering if it had ever been changed. The oil was super clean when I changed it right after I bought it and knowing the family very well and all the equipment they owned whether for their Heavy Equipment operation or their personal use was all very well maintained with the 520 in mint condition even at 10 years old.
