314h 1997 front wheel size

Recommended Posts

Pops

Looking at buying a 314h (1997) noticed in picture that the front wheels have cheap plastic hubs, Not Wheel Horse wheels, need to know spindle size and wheel size. I have extra 6 inch wheels but not 8 inch.

thanks Jim

clueless

If it came with the 37 inch 2 blade side discharge deck it has 6 inch wheels. If not it most likely has the 8 inch.

3/4" spindles.  Also factory TORO/WH wheels(Rims) were/are steel the owner may have put some plastic/rubber hub covers on to keep grease off the wheels also around 1996 TORO went to plastic wheel covers instead of the chrome plated steel. Here's my early 2000s 315-8...

Thanks, yea someone replace the original wheels with ones with plastic inserts with cheap knock off wheels. Do you know when the  tractor came from factory did it come with 6 or 8 inch wheels

thanks. Jim

You will need six inch wheels to make

your deck height work correctly . I would not

go with the 8 inch.

I would say (because most tractors of that model did) the 314H came with 8" front wheels and either a 42" or 48" mowing deck. The 310s and 312s were more likely to use 6" front wheels.

6" or 8"

my guess 8"  ... especially because it's a late 90's

but possible some could be equipped with 6" ;  some equipped with 8" ... ?

one way to guess is by a glance at the spindles ... 6" front wheels typically paired with a slightly 'shorter' spindle ... slightly less 'height' above the axle

regardless - I would put 8"

6" wheels had no place on the Classic 300-500 series tractors ... my opinion

There are different spindles between 6" and 8" front wheel models.

The 300 series machines I've seen usually have 6"

My 400 series and C machines have 8"

Things that make you go hhhmmmm.... But I have personally seen more 314-5 with 8" wheels than 6" , but never 6.5".

Those are tire widths - not wheel diameters.

That being said 16×6.5 tires 99.9% go on 8" wheels.
