Need PTO Parts Help

Recommended Posts

T-Mo

I decided I needed to adjust the trunnion on my pto rod last evening. I guess over time that thing about welded itself on the rod. So, in my impatience and instead of soaking it in some penetrating type oil, I grab a big pipe wrench to hold the rod and then I began to turn the trunnion in for adjustment. Well, you can guess the result. Snap, the rod breaks. So I take the rod off and thought maybe I can use the one from my C-141. Nope, they're different. So I go in to my parts catalog to see what I need so I can get them ordered. Now the question is: Where's does the extension spring, item no. 7 below go. I know one end hooks to the little cotter pin, item no. 5 on the rod, but where does the other end go? My must have fallen off (maybe that's the reason the belt was slipping?:omg: .

That spring has been missing off from my 310 for at least the four years I have owned it. I don't know where it attaches to the frame, but I have never had a problem with the pto adjustment.

On my C-105 that spring hooks in a hole on an L shaped bracket

in the bend where it is bolted to the hood stand.Hope I made myself clear.

I'm sure it acts as a return spring, but I'm not 100% sure. On my C-141 the spring is near the pto end, on my 314 it's near the lever end on the rod. I'm thinking it hooks back to the lever rod, but I'm not sure. :omg:

The PTo Rod on my C-105 has 2 holes in it, one out by the trunnion, the other back

at the back. The back hole is where my spring hooks to. Hope you can get a new rod and trunnion like you need.

Chas.

T-Mo, what model tractor are we talking here? On my 312's, the spring attaches to the little cotter key on the rod part way down - about where the horizontal line shows on the drawing coming off of the "7" end of the spring, not up where the "5's" are. The other end attaches to the back of the battery tray at the corner, and it does function as a return spring. Does this help?

Also, when did you pass the 4000-post mark????? :omg:

Thanks, Duff. This is for a 314. I knew, or was pretty sure, one end attached to the cotter pin on the rod, but I wasn't sure where it attached on the other end. I'm assuming you meant the metal bracket that the plastic battery tray lies on?

Oh, I passed 4000 posts yesterday.

Yup, the metal one. I didn't find a real "hole" to attach it to, but rather a sort of slot at the corner. TT was the one who told me where to look quite some time ago and it's worked fine ever since!

Duff,

I found the thread - pto return spring - unfortunately, TT's pictures have been removed. Do you have a picture of your set up? Thanks.

Duff,

My (fully assembled) tractor is still buried in the basement - been godawful busy this spring. If you can wait until closer to the weekend I'm planning on digging it out and will happily take some photos for you?

#2 and #3 are under construction and don't have their dash towers installed on the frames yet, so there's nothing on them to photograph!

Maybe TT will see this and be able to lay hands on the photos and repost them........
