Travis Evans 1 #1 Posted December 24, 2019 I have a ‘69 Workhorse 700 with the 7hp Tecumseh H70. I think it threw a rod, oil all over the garage floor. Any help with options for repower? Travis Hey Travis couldn't help noticing you're from Lawrence Kansas. I spent a lot of time there when I worked traveling and playing music with Red Foley's grandson! Sorry to hear you're having problems with the Tecumseh but I'm not a real Big fan of the Tecumseh motors. I have two or three K181 s laying around the shop that might work on your tractor. I live in Fort Collins, CO now but happen to be back in Lawrence today and tomorrow for the holiday. Where are you located with those Kohler engines? Would like to change over to a Kohler if I can. Not sure what fits. Im in Nashville Tn and any one of these should bolt right up.Might have to check on the drive pulley.You might be able to use yours. What you have now is the base plate part number 4416 you could eliminate and just bolt the K1 81 to the frame. Pullstart 66,813 #9 Posted December 26, 2019 Hey Travis, The Kohler swap in that era is fairly straight forward. On my “Putt Putt” build, it had already been swapped partially to a K-161. I now have a K-181 on it that came from a gas powered portable air compressor. I picked it up cheap because one of the tanks were rusted out. Keep your eyes open for an old walk behind tiller, snow blower, compressor, or other small garden tractors for that matter. Sometimes finding a machine in dispare is cheaper than buying an engine!
