oilwell1415 563 #1 Posted December 20, 2019 I hope I don't bore you guys to death asking about these possible projects, but I found this 701 I'm interested in and was wondering if anyone was familiar with it. It's located in New Cumberland, PA. The starterator belt guard is missing, but it's got the correct pulleys. Deck seems to be wrong, it's got some holes in the nose, not sure what's up with that plate in the middle of the seat. Thoughts?
Racinbob 11,989 #2 Posted December 20, 2019 Nice tractor. That plate is to repair it. Probably rusted and cracked.
WHX?? 51,916 #3 Posted December 20, 2019 Missing belt guard brings it's worth way down for me anyway. We all know what those command $$. Too bad... older resto but otherwise looks complete.
WHNJ701 4,165 #4 Posted December 20, 2019 701 is a unique tractor, a majority of parts are 1 year specific. as stated the belt guard is missing on the engine. if the price is right and it runs and drives this would be good tractor for what your looking for in your other post
oilwell1415 563 #5 Posted December 20, 2019 I saw the belt guard was missing. That's not a huge deal to me. I can go without or fab something up. The seller says he mowed with it all summer and that everything works. He wants $500 for it and I'd have to ship it, so I'll have $750-800 in it by the time it gets here. I think his price is a little high, but if he has to put it on a pallet and haul it to Fastenal that's worth something. I really like the solid nose over the slotted nose, so my options seem pretty limited. I think it's either a Suburban or a 701 unless I go for the slotted nose. Unfortunately, there's just not much to pick from in my area.
rmaynard 16,373 #6 Posted December 20, 2019 I would not pay $500 for it in that condition, especially in light of the fact that you would have to have it shipped.

That was my first thought, but the only others I’ve seen for sale recently have been listed at $700 and $750 and have been in comparable condition to this one other than including the belt guard. There’s a really nice one in the classifieds here for $1600, but I am looking for a project.

Pullstart 67,082 #10 Posted December 22, 2019 It might be interesting to post in the hauling help part too. Friend of a friend, home many lending hands to get from PA to Ok? If I was driving though, I’d be in on that journey!
