Issues with a 1054 Hydraulic Pump Re-Build

Recommended Posts

Need some trouble-shooting help on the hydraulic pump for my 1054. I replaced all the seals. In the process, I broke the main spring and had to order a new one, but I was able to get it in and replaced right. The only thing I couldn't get to during the re-build is the screw on the side that has the small spring and the ball bearing. I just couldn't get it apart. Everything is sealed now and not leaking any fluids. The pump works and moves, but under a load, it will only lift the plow an inch at a time. You have to put the lever back to center, and then push it forward again and it will raise another inch. And so on. Any ideas on what could be the problem? I'm running Dexron 6 -- could that be the issue?

Your lucky the pump sealed. My 953 leaked like a sieve. Took it to a hydraulic repair shop to get all the seals replaced. Still leaks like a sieve.

WHX??

I guess I'm not familiar with dexron 6?? Is that like a ATF? If so  it may be too thin. I run Lucas hydraulic fluid with no problems. Its too bad you couldn't get the check valve apart for cleaning could be some hang up in there. I too have always had trouble get those out.
