MichaelCanada 14 #1 Posted December 16, 2019 Is there anyone out there that can make a Christmas wish come true?? Im looking for a starter generator cover for my 953. I cant seem to locate the serial number on the motor, Im pretty sure its supposed to be located on the bottom front (close to / facing to the front left tire) but there is nothing there. Is it safe to assume that this motor will take a standard cover meant for the 953/1054???? This one is on ebay, If it happens to be up for sale by someone in the forum please DM me and we can have a chat. Would this cover work with my motor?? Thanks again and Merry Christmas to everyone
Lane Ranger 11,194 #2 Posted December 16, 2019 (edited) That is the correct starter/generator cover for your 953 tractor. You use spacers between the motor and the guard to keep an even distance from the belt. Believe it or not, the 1054-A Wheel Horse above actually came from Milton, Canada Michael! I bought this about ten years ago and "repatriated" it to the U.S. Edited December 16, 2019 by Lane Ranger 2
WHX?? 51,323 #3 Posted December 16, 2019 (edited) I don't think the seller is a member here. He's got some nice parts but is quite proud of them. Any reason a more common SG belt guard 10/12 HP wouldn't work if you cut the tabs off and drilled some holes? Made some spacers? I saw your want ad Mike... lemme rummage in my parts shed tonite. Searching for a SG belt guard is dear to my heart … one of the reasons I found Red Square and the addiction to follow! Herder 2,354 #4 Posted December 16, 2019 I am familiar with that vender on eBay and I've purchased from him before, he's good to go. His prices are OK depending on what your looking for. A belt Gard is more of a common item and you will see them from time to time. Don't over pay. I searched my inventory in hopes to help out, sorry I am empty handed. As for as the ID tag if its not the flywheel cover then it's most likely missing. The older ones where riveted to the cover. There could be one on the upper righthand side of the cover under the SG.
953 nut 59,050 #5 Posted December 16, 2019 I too have purchased from "acezilla" on and been pleased. I am not sure how he comes up with his prices but I have made an offer and had him bundle pieces. You are also going to need the small "L" shaped bracket which he has listed (see photo). Shipping on the belt guard will be about $ 15.00 and he is going to pay the shiping. Offer him what you figure the two parts shipped to you are worth, he may take it. 1

Wish I could see some of the tractors that he has disassembled. But he comes up with some hard to find items. I purchased a complete PTO setup for my 953 from him. It was excellent. Five Stars ***** Plus a few other thing that I cant recall at the present moment.
squonk 43,226 #7 Posted December 16, 2019 953 /1054 guards aren't as easy to come by as the std. Kohler guards. I got mine from AZ tractor who is a vendor here.

Whenever I need parts I always go to Kyle Acezilla first. He usually has what I need. He’s wrecked(parted) 12 953/1054s I’ve bought all my parts to finish off my 953 and my two 1054’s. He’s a great guy to deal with, plus if you message him and give him a list of parts he’s good at giving a better price.....Wes 1 1
Wheelhorse Wes 279 #9 Posted December 18, 2019 By the way the second 953 he parted out was a beautiful basically barn find that he told me he drove onto his trailer drove home backed it off his trailer drove it around his yard to see if all the gears worked in the transmission (I own that transmission lol) then he drove it into his garage and stripped it all apart. I’ve bought John Deere round fender parts from him also. I highly recommend Acezilla (eBay name) KYLE....he has tons of parts.
