Stepney 2,354 #8 Posted December 13, 2019 I've always set mine to just over tick-over. Just a hair faster than the starter will crank. Running implements at engine shows, my Electro 16 idles at perhaps 800rpm all day running a water pump or the like. It's never gotten hot or made bad noises. I know many who do the same thing. Doesn't make it right .. but I've never seen an issue before. Running my sickle bar mower I'm sure the engine never breaks 1500. Any more and the machine would fly apart.
