Hi have just joined the forum and wondered if you had any info on the 706 tractors as we have just bought one serial no 181054 thanks

Welcome to the forum. The 706 I believe is a European only model.  Do a search for "706" and you should find some manuals, and other info.

thanks for your replies its good to hear from you boys from over the pond. Do you know how many tractors there were in the 700 series as we have a 704 aswell

Have a serial number for the 704?

Click on the picture. The manual we have is a very poor copy.

:WRS: The production numbers for the 700 series is kind of a hard question to answer. Here is how the numbers were laid out in the '60;s

 

 First number 7 = 7 horse power

 

Middle number 0 = pull start,  manual transmission on most tractors with some exceptions. A 701 had electric start for example.

                        5 = electric start, manual transmission

                        7 = electric start, hydrostatic transmission

 

Last number = the year of the tractor - 4 = 1964, 6 = 1966

 

This system continued until 1968, when the tractors were given names like Raider, Challenger, Electro, or Bronco for example.
