tom2p 2,394 #2 Posted November 28, 2019 you came to the right place for help and info - and most times correct ! just posted this recently : I believe current Toro oil filter number is NN10143 also: Onan 122-0800 Fleetguard LF3339 Wix 51762 NAPA Gold 1762 I use Fleetguard filter Many in this group use Wix or NAPA filter
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,489 #3 Posted November 28, 2019 Here is a tractor parts list. The Onan engine has been split off to reduce file size. The filter listed is NN10147 which is an Onan number. There has been some discussion lately on the best filters to use for wrench access and one that allows the grommet for better engine cooling. Click on the pictures for more info. You can also download from that page. This link brings up 30 files on 2 pages in no particular order so look through them all. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/search/?&q=1990 520-h&type=downloads_file&page=1&search_and_or=or&sortby=relevancy Garry
Elliot 7 #4 Posted November 28, 2019 Thanks guys ! Next I want to see if I can find a two stage snowblower and a midpoint grader blade for it. I got it with a single stage blower and it works well but I have a 300ft driveway so I could use a little more throwing power.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,489 #5 Posted November 28, 2019 When I saw the difference on Onan numbers thought I made a mistake. NN10143 used 1992-1996 ($12.29 at PartsTree and listed as a Toro Consumer) https://www.partstree.com/parts/toro-nn10143/ NN10147 used 1988-1991 ($6.17 at PartsTree and listed as a Toro Commercial) https://www.partstree.com/search/?type=part&term=nn10147 I do not know what the difference is. Elliot 7 #6 Posted November 28, 2019 Probably just the price !
tom2p 2,394 #7 Posted November 28, 2019 (edited) I did a double take on that also not positive - but I believe 10147 is a smaller filter (shorter in length) that also fits additional applications including Briggs and Kohler Edited November 28, 2019 by tom2p
lynnmor 7,824 #8 Posted November 28, 2019 Skip the NN numbers. Toro did play with the shorter and longer filters for awhile. When I bought my 1991 520H, the dealer said that Toro recommended the short one because of the difficulty removing the long one, but there is no real problem. The short filters do a poor job of keeping the gasket in place, you do have the gasket that seals off around the filter? Go with the filters mentioned in the second post. To double your chances keep an eye out for the model that fits the 5xi series of tractors. The rear mounting bar is weld in so cut that out. Drill new holes 5" ahead and make a new bar held in with pins. It can still be used on a 5xi by drilling out the welded bar and move the new bar back. A rear axle mounted quick hitch is required so try and get it also. Click on the fuzzy picture Garry
lynnmor 7,824 #10 Posted November 28, 2019 I should have mentioned that I have both a 42" single and a 44" two stage and their ain't a whole lot of difference in performance.

gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,489 #12 Posted November 29, 2019 I was not clear on the rear quick hitch required to mount the grader blade. The one for the 5xi will not work on the 520-H. The one needed fits the earlier C-Series and 300, 400 and 500-Series tractors. Same one used for dozer blade and rear tiller. Garry

Pullstart 66,815 #14 Posted November 29, 2019 I don’t have a 520 or any experience with one to help with any questions, but I can say ! Like most young children, we read best when there’s pictures! 2
