71_Bronco 1,072 #1 Posted November 28, 2019 I've been using my Commando 8 to mow my flat lawn this past season, with a gear drive 36" deck. It works great and I'm very happy with it. I was able to get a set of new Toro blade for this deck off Amazon for about $50. Being that these are not typical blades (one spins CW, one spins CCW), I didnt really have much options (that I know of). I have a push mower with a Gator Mulching blade, and that thing eats dried leaves like no tomorrow. I'd love to put Gator Mulching blades on my 36" gear drive deck, but I highly doubt they are available. Is there any way to get Gator blades on my Commando 8? Would I have to convert it to the Attach-A-Matic style, and get a belt drive deck? Thanks!
Stepney 2,354 #2 Posted November 29, 2019 With enough effort it may be possible .. you'd need a PTO, front mule setup, rig a lift bad and mid hitch. And then, I'm not too sure a deck would even fit that wheelbase .. It'd probably have to be a 42", as the 36" is 'longer'. As to making the blades work. You'd have to measure and find something comparable, I'd bet something from a newer 2 bladed mower could be found. But counter rotation makes that a little more unlikely..
