New to wheel horse with many questions

Recommended Posts

KAD88314-A

I have recently been given a 314-A. This machine came with a 36 inch side discharge 3 blade deck and front snow blade. It is in need of new blades does anyone know the part number? This is a prior to toro wheel horse. I believe the machine to be a 1985 as it has a 14hp Kohler  engine. Just looking for any advice on owning this machine and maintaining it.

Welcome to the forum

The 314-A is a 1985 model and here is what we have on it. Look through them all as they are in no particular order.

https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/search/?q=314-a&type=downloads_file

Unfortunately we do not have an operator manual for 1985 but this early 1986 manual should work for you. In 1986 the engine oil capacity was increased but the early manual did not include this change.

A 36" rear discharge deck is the only 36" deck listed for the 314-A. The decks are a simple design that was used for many years so identifying will be a bit of a challenge. Improvements over the years are what make the models different. Bearings and blade center holes being the major differences.

Here is the last 36" SD deck produced. Click on the pictures

You were given a great garden tractor, one of the best setups Wheel Horse ever made. If questions arise feel free to ask here.

You've been given quite a gift there!!

A Wheelhorse is much more than a garden tractor.

It's a permanent piece of equipment that can be repaired and maintained forever with proper care.

This is a great site with all the help you'll need.

You may even make a friend or two.

welcome newbie ! , you are on the correct site for w/h info, your request for 36" deck blades ?  https://www.amazon.com/s?k=wheel+horse+mower+blades&gclid=CjwKCAiA8ejuBRAaEiwAn-iJ3j9LCwyl1NyxPrz-YmGVUqjodxqfvuKkv_2r2xEVigPc8JqgvfcMSRoCG0kQAvD_BwE&hvadid=190484824017&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9003310&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=b&hvrand=6299089333826688125&hvtargid=aud-840076997981%3Akwd-298092953748&hydadcr=7141_9462853&tag=googhydr-20&ref=pd_sl_6murmk2y3f_b, there are so many available types and brands , just easily found this. i question the 36" s/d deck, i only thought the 36 " came in r/d ?  a baseline maintenance , of fluid changes, greasing , electrical ,dielectric grease contact points , etc will verify its function. gas filter, SEAFOAM GAS TREATMENT , helps clean out the crud. let us know how you are doing . a few pictures help , pete

Above is the picture of the deck. The model and serial is rubbed off. It’s a 3 spindle deck so it may be larger than 36”. It is currently in storage so I cannot measure it at this time.

interesting that it looks like a 36" r/d deck yet it has a side discharge chute that would be on a 42 ' deck. more picture detailing and related info will give you an answer, it would not be the first w/h  with , "  modified attachments " , let us know what ever you can , when you can , pete

From what I can tell from the internet is that in 1983 they made a model 05-ms3602 and a 05mr3602. S for side and R for rear I’m assuming. They come with the same blade set from toro though. 3/4” shaft hole and 2, 12-1/8th Length outside blades and one 14-1/8th center blade. Which doesn’t make sense to me being a side discharge mower.
