K181 Governor/Throttle Rod Hole Position?

Recommended Posts

(This is a K181)

What effect would it have if the rod was moved from the inner position to the middle or outer position?

When I got this tractor it was in the inner position so that was repeated.  But maybe it was wrong to begin with?

The connection position has to do with sensitivity, otherwise it shouldn't make a big difference. That inner most hole will be more sensitive to the governor, ie: less movement of the governor arm is required to move the carb butterfly from fully closed to fully open. The outer most hole will require the most amount of governor arm movement.

If your engine is hunting (up and down RPM) you may want to try moving the connection to the middle hole. If it's operating fine and through heavy load of the engine, it's good. You can certainly try moving it to your preference spot without any worries

I've got 2 K-181-s...that rod is in the 1st hole on one and the last hole on the other.  They both run great.
